Old Greenville Rd

Sitting on Miss Jenn’s porch in Georgia one afternoon. She looked me square in the eye and said “You need to get upstairs and write us a song!”
Now I know when NOT to mess with a southern woman. So I did what I was told.
She is my cowriter on this one. Too many memories to fit on one song but for those who are curious. Ciddy Blox is her husband Jonathans gangster name when we played Monopoly. He was ruthless while building his hotel conglomerates and remains undefeated to this day.

Lyrics

Got me a box of lemons
Full of seeds and bitter sweet
You said well let’s plant a garden and
You gave my smile back to me

We found our silver linings over board games and fine wine
Ciddy Blox were all about winning
And we counted sparks in the fire light
Fire light

Back on Old Greenville Rd
Where life was easy under that old red oak
Give it, time you’ll find, peace of mind
You said, we take it slow out on Old Greenville Rd

When the rain finally stopped I
found a path it was green and new
I walked and kicked the rocks and leaves let the sunshine thru
Old dreams died and new ones bloomed
And we laughed and cried one last time
The sky was a warm summer blue
When we waved goodbye

Got me a box of lemons
Full of seeds and bitter sweet
You said well let’s plant a garden and
You gave my smile back to me

see you down the road - where the good trouble starts!"
